Change of value notices sent
Change of value notices were sent on June 20th to 27,172 property taxpayers in Kitsap County. If a notice was not sent for your property, your assessed value has not changed from the prior year. The Assessor is required by state law to appraise property at 100% of the market value (RCW 84.40.030). These notices are determined based upon the values as of January 1, 2025, and will be used to calculate your 2026 property taxes. Click here to view the valuation timeline.
You may review your value and property characteristics using our Parcel Details tool.
Check out this 4-minute video that explains the difference between the market value and the assessed value for tax purposes.
If you have any questions regarding the new value, do not hesitate to contact the office and ask to speak with an appraiser.
If you disagree with the value, you have until August 22nd to file an appeal with the Board of Equalization.

Elections that may impact future property taxes
The Kitsap Regional Library has a ballot measure for the August 5, 2025, primary election, proposing a lid-lift to allow the district to increase their rate to $0.39 per $1,000 of assessed value. The rate for collection in 2025 was $0.27 per $1,000 of assessed value. If passed by the voters, it will be an estimated $7,500,000 increase in total property tax revenue over the 2025 amount of $17,600,000. Increases to individual property owners will vary, however a property assessed at $600,000 would see an estimated $72.00 increase in property taxes for the library compared to 2025. You may view the ballot resolution here. Additional information on the proposed property tax levy can be found on the Kitsap Regional Library’s website.
