The Kitsap County Accessible Communities Advisory Committee joins community partners and Outdoors For All for the annual Bikes for All event that takes place 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, September 13 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds Sheep Barn, located at 1200 Fairgrounds Road NW, Bremerton.
Local youth and adults with mobility, sensory and other disabilities are invited to attend. There will be adaptive bike demonstrations showcasing recumbent (reclining) and tandem bikes and handcycles. These adaptive bikes provide a way for people with varying mobility to get outside and ride. This event is free and open to everyone!
Assistance will be provided by certified physical and recreational therapists. ASL and Spanish interpreters will be available. Bring your own helmet or borrow one at the event. There will be water and pizza for participants and information on grants and scholarships to purchase adaptive bikes.
"We live in such a beautiful part of the country with so many opportunities to get outside and ride on our many trails and at our accessible parks," noted Ranae Beeker, outreach coordinator of the Accessible Communities Advisory Committee. "Promoting access to exercise through biking is important and a great mission of Outdoors for All and our sponsors."
Registration is not required and walk-ins are welcome. If you would like to preregister by filling out the liability form, please go to the Bikes for All registration page linked to here or use the QR code in the flyer above.
