Go play outside! Learn about getting involved in maintenance, advocacy of Kingston's parks and trails at Aug. 14 community meeting
Do you know about the many beautiful parks located within the greater Kingston area and the well-kept trails winding through the community? The parks range from small, popular shoreline spaces such as Arness County Park and the Port of Kingston's Saltair Beach to larger, forested tracts including A Quiet Place Park and the North Kitsap Heritage Park. There are still more wild places around Carpenter Lake and Whisper Creek, and connector trails between local schools, neighborhoods and parks.
These verdant recreation areas enhance the community, preserve wildlife habitat and offer space to improve mental and physical health. Learn more about local natural treasures at the next regular meeting of the Kingston Community Advisory Council that takes place 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wed., Aug. 14 at the Village Green Community Center, 26159 Dulay Road NE. There is a virtual option via Zoom. The meeting agenda and Zoom link are posted at kcowa.us/KingstonCAC.
Mark Libby of KCAC's Parks, Trails and Open Space Committee will provide an overview of maintenance plans, projects advocated for and volunteer opportunities. This is a great opportunity for community members to find new places to recreate and ways for people of all ages to get involved. An information sheet summarizing these is posted on the KCAC website.
The KCAC meeting also includes updates on community events, projects and initiatives. Everyone is welcome to attend!
