Focus on housing, shelter options in South Kitsap and review of the county's response to homelessness at Manchester community meeting April 2
The Manchester Community Advisory Council monthly meeting takes place 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 in the Manchester Library, 8067 E. Main St., and will focus on homelessness and housing options in South Kitsap. View the meeting agenda at kcowa.us/ManchesterCAC. Everyone is welcome and there is time for public comment.
Carl Borg, manager of Kitsap County's Housing and Homelessness Program of the Department of Human Services, will be joined by Robin Lund, executive director of Kitsap Rescue Mission. They will give an overview of housing for those living homeless and an update on the status of the county's new Pacific Building homeless shelter currently under construction, anticipated to open later this year. Discussion will include details on individuals who will be housed there and services provided.
Following discussion of the Pacific Building shelter, Jarrod Moran, coordinator of the county's Homeless Encampment Action Response and Transitions (HEART) Team, will be joined by Deputy Dave Wolner, HEART Team member of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. They will give a review of HEART Team responses to homeless encampments in 2023 and share information about the 2024 Point-In-Time Count of those living homeless.
