Making Kitsap more accessible: Manchester community meeting Feb. 6 looks at identifying barriers to mobility
The Manchester Community Advisory Council monthly meeting takes place 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the Manchester Library and features an overview of Kitsap County's development of an Americans with Disabilities Act Transition Plan to guide when and where mobility improvements need to be made. View the meeting agenda at kcowa.us/ManchesterCAC.
The ADA Transition Plan focuses on pedestrian facilities in the public right-of-way including curb ramps, sidewalks, crosswalks and signal push buttons. Christy DeGeus of Kitsap County Public Works will lead the discussion, answer questions and gather feedback crucial to identifying gaps and barriers to accessibility and for planning improvements.
A survey is underway to collect input and better understand people's mobility experiences, especially near public buildings, transit stops, commercial centers and schools. Learn about the ADA Transition Plan and take the survey at http://www.kitsapada.com.
Attend MCAC meetings to stay informed about planning, events and initiatives! Everyone is welcome and there is time for public comment. The MCAC has vacancies for new members.
