Avoid Fire Hazards with Safe Disposal
Garbage fires are a serious threat to homes, garbage trucks and waste facilities. While you're thinking about outdoor firepits and planning those holiday parties on the deck, take a moment to plan for safe cleanup.
Follow these disposal instructions to safely get rid of BBQ charcoal, briquettes, ashes and other fire-causing materials. Soak all used charcoal, briquettes, fireworks and "duds" in water for at least 15 minutes before disposal. Our waste facility staff screens incoming loads for fire hazards.
Recycle Your Paint
Did you know Washington | PaintCare has over 150 paint recycling locations across the state, including retail stores, that take your paint at no cost? Now you can easily recycle your unused latex and oil paint, and stains. Clean out your garage and sheds, and recycle your unused paint at a convenient drop-off site near you.
All PaintCare sites accept up to 5 gallons of paint per visit - some take more. Sites do not accept spray paint, leaking, unlabeled or empty containers. Check with the business for the type and amount of paint you would like to recycle. PaintCare also offers pickup service for large loads of paint.
