Shot of a Lifetime drawings continue throughout June

The Washington State Lottery is conducting a “Shot of a Lifetime” giveaway series during the month of June, working with state agencies, technology companies, sports teams and higher education institutions across the state to offer a myriad of different prizes to vaccinated individuals.

There are four weekly drawings for $250K and one grand prize drawing for $1 Million on July 13, 2021 (includes vaccinated adults 18 years or older). The second drawing for $250K will occur on June 15.

You are automatically entered into a drawing if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and are in the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) vaccine database. Measures have been taken to safeguard the vaccine records of Washington residents by DOH. Numbers are assigned to each vaccination record and the Washington Lottery informs DOH of the winning numbers.

NOT VACCINATED? Don’t wait, the sooner you get vaccinated and are in the DOH database, you will be automatically entered into any drawings remaining. For more details, visit walottery.com/vaccination.

CDC report shows decrease in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths among older adults

COVID-19 vaccination began in the United States in December 2020, and adults aged 65 years and older were prioritized in early phases. A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows a decline of COVID-19 incidence, emergency department visits, hospital admissions, and deaths among adults aged 65 years and over compared to adults aged 18–49 years.

The greater decline in COVID-19 morbidity and mortality in older adults, the age group with the highest vaccination rates, demonstrates the potential impact of increasing population-level vaccination coverage. See the full CDC report for details.

WSDA Awards $14.2M to small ag businesses

The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) has awarded more than $14 million in COVID-19 Relief and Recovery grants to 839 businesses impacted by the pandemic.

The coronavirus pandemic affected small agriculture businesses and local food supply chains in different ways, but WSDA identified four business sectors that faced additional challenges qualifying for financial assistance through earlier relief programs.

The WSDA Relief and Recovery grants, funded through a partnership with the Washington State Department of Commerce, are intended to assist small businesses in these four agriculture business sectors, including:

  • shellfish growers
  • farmers market organizations
  • agritourism farms
  • craft beverage producers

The grants are being issued now with all businesses scheduled to receive their payments by mid-June. For more information, visit agr.wa.gov/grants.
