Flags at half-staff to honor 500,000 lives lost to COVID-19

President Joe Biden today issued a proclamation on remembering the 500,000 American lives lost due to COVID-19. Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation, Governor Inslee directed that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff immediately.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Friday, February 26.

Kitsap Public Health receives second dose allocations

Kitsap Public Health has received the 2,400 second doses of Moderna vaccine needed to fulfill all appointments scheduled this week. Last week's COVID-19 vaccine shipments were delayed by severe weather. Vaccine allocations for last week and this week arrived today.

If you have a confirmed second dose appointment at Kitsap Public Health's clinic in the former St. Michael (Harrison hospital) in East Bremerton, please arrive as scheduled. If you have any questions about your second dose appointment, please email confirmedvaccineappts@kitsappublichealth.org.

More vaccine doses are on the way. Kitsap Public Health was not allocated any first doses of vaccine for this week and will not open any first dose appointments at this clinic. Other vaccine providers in the community may have first dose appointments available. Find a list of vaccine providers at CovidVaccineWA.org or kcowa.us/vaccine

Kitsap Public Health will request more than 2,000 first doses of vaccine from the state for next week. New appointments will open as soon as possible.

Keep fighting COVID-19

COVID-19 vaccination is underway in our community, but it will take months for vaccination to become available to the majority of Kitsap County residents. While we wait, remember to:

  • Continue fighting the spread of COVID-19 by practicing the "Three Ws":

    • Wear a mask
    • Wash your hands frequently
    • Watch your distance: stay at least 6 feet apart from people you don't live with
  • Share accurate information about the COVID-19 vaccine and COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Stay informed about vaccine rollout and be ready to get vaccinated when eligible.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our community healthy!

Over 1.8 million using WA Notify

Washington Exposure Notifications (WA Notify) is an important tool to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Just like wearing a mask, distancing and keeping gatherings small, WA Notify is a simple tool to protect our community.

When you enable WA Notify, your phone exchanges random, anonymous codes with the phones of people you are near who have also enabled WA Notify. The app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to exchange these random codes without revealing any information about you.

If another WA Notify user you've been near in the last two weeks later tests positive for COVID-19 and adds their verification code to the app, you’ll get an anonymous notification that you’ve had a possible exposure. This lets you get the care you need quickly and helps prevent you from spreading COVID-19 to the people around you.

Studies show that the more people who use exposure notification technology, the greater
the benefit. Over 1.8 million Washingtonians are using the app as of Feb. 19. For more information, visit WANotify.org.
