Building Code Announcement

Kitsap County will adopt a building code change to the 2018 edition published by the
International Code Council, effective February 1, 2021.

Building permit applicants wanting to vest under the current 2015 code edition must
have completed permit applications and all required documents submitted to
DCD by January 31, 2021. 


Why The Change?

Regular updates to Kitsap County’s construction codes make it easier to:

- Incorporate emerging technology and materials into
construction to increase a building's safety, usability, and lifespan;

- Keep Kitsap competitive and innovative with early
adoption of national code changes; and 

- Decrease differences in construction code adoption
and enforcement with neighboring communities.
