Seabeck Holly Road NW reopens with new bridge over Seabeck Creek
(Port Orchard, WA) -- Seabeck Holly Road NW has reopened with a new bridge over Seabeck Creek. The road has been closed since August 12 while contractors for the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group, in partnership with Kitsap County, replaced an undersized 72-inch culvert allowing for safer travel conditions and better fish passage. Contractor crews were able to finalize construction on the bridge which resulted in the road opening several weeks earlier than originally anticipated.
The new bridge allows floodwaters to pass unobstructed after a history of industrial-scale logging and rural development in the area. Contractor crews will continue work through March of 2021 with habitat improvement and re-vegetation efforts that will provide bank stabilization and stream restoration.
