Inslee launches app to help stop the spread of COVID-19

Gov. Jay Inslee, along with the Washington State Department of Health (DOH), today announced the launch of WA Notify, a simple, anonymous exposure notification tool to help stop the spread of COVID-19. By adding WA Notify to their smartphones, Washington residents will be alerted if they spent time near another WA Notify user who later tests positive for COVID-19.

WA Notify uses privacy-preserving technology jointly developed by Google and Apple and works without collecting or revealing any location or personal data. The app is free and can be enabled in iPhone settings or downloaded as an app from the Google Play Store for Android phones. Users can opt out at any time.

Learn more about WA Notify on the governor's Medium page.

Blood donation is still an essential activity

Activities essential to the healthy function of our community, such as donating blood, are an important aspect of emergency public health preparedness. To meet community needs and keep everyone safe, Bloodworks Northwest is accepting donations by appointment only. Masks are required. No guests or people under age 16 are permitted onsite.

Due to increased usage of type O Negative by hospitals, some appointment slots have been reserved for this blood type. If you are O Negative, please call 800-398-7888 or schedule@bloodworksnw.org for a special reservation time.

It’s important for donors to keep their appointments, and make future appointments now to ensure blood stays available in our community as we weather this pandemic. To schedule your appointment, call 800-398-7888 or visit schedule.bloodworksnw.org.
