Coming to Port Orchard, June 12th
More deliveries? More takeout? Styrofoam piling up?
In partnership with Safeway and Albertsons, Kitsap County Solid Waste has scheduled a Styrofoam collection event. Recycle your Styrofoam! Bring your clean, dry foam to Safeway in Port Orchard on June 12th.
DATE: June 12, 2021
TIME: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
PLACE: Port Orchard Safeway
For the community
Available to households only. Limit 1 car per household.
No businesses, trailers, or box trucks.
TIP: Help your friends and neighbors! Ask if they have foam you can bring for them too.

How to prepare materials
To keep the line moving quickly, please prepare materials at home:

Remove all tape and labels.

Clean and dry materials

Sort materials by color and type.

Bag peanuts separately from other items. No debris in bag.

What IS accepted
- Styrofoam blocks from packaging
- Shipping coolers
- Packing peanuts
- Unstained takeout or meat trays, except NO tan trays - they are made from cornstarch
- #6 foam or EPS (expanded polystyrene)

What's NOT accepted
Other items are not accepted, including:
- Hot tub covers
- Soft or flexible foams, EPE (expanded polyethylene)
- Sealed foam
- Foil-lined foam
- Insulation board or spray-in foam
- Hard plastics (including #6)
- Styrofoam from the beach
- Tan meat trays
- Moldy, mildewed or soiled foam
- Styrofoam with glue, screws or other material attached

Follow COVID-19 Safety Guidelines
Stay at least six feet away from other visitors and staff.
Face coverings required while outside vehicle or interacting with staff with windows down.
