Kitsap Public Health District welcomes new health officer

The Kitsap Public Health District welcomes Dr. Gib Morrow as the new health officer for Kitsap County, effective August 1. Dr. Morrow succeeds Dr. Susan Turner, who retired July 31.

Dr. Morrow most recently served as deputy health officer for Whatcom County Health Department, where he helped lead that county's COVID-19 response. He joined Kitsap Public Health on July 27 and worked alongside Dr. Turner during her final week as health officer.

Ban on utility shutoffs for nonpayment extended

Gov. Jay Inslee extended the ban on utility shutoffs for nonpayment during the COVID-19 pandemic through at least October 15. No one should lose access to their water, energy or phone services right now. 

If you are having trouble paying your bills, contact your utility directly to learn about their customer support programs. Please note: this proclamation does not relieve utility customers from their obligation to pay utility bills. Read the original proclamation.

 

FDA expands list of hand sanitizers not recommended for consumers

The Food and Drug Administration further expanded its health alert for additional brands of hand sanitizer products. The agency urges consumers not to use these products and has expanded its list to include hand sanitizers that do not contain enough potent ingredients, in addition to hand sanitizers that are or may be contaminated with methanol.
