COVID-19 death from March confirmed in Kitsap County

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have confirmed that COVID-19 contributed to the death of a Kitsap County resident in early March, the Kitsap Public Health District reported today.

The community member who died was an adult with underlying health conditions. The CDC completed postmortem testing at the request of the Kitsap County Coroner’s office.

With the addition of this case, three COVID-19-associated deaths have been reported in Kitsap County to date. Two deaths occurred in April.

2-1-1 helps residents access free face masks

The distribution of free cloth face masks to qualifying households in Kitsap County is well underway!

On July 1, the Kitsap County Emergency Operations Center received 106,000 cloth face masks as part of a statewide program. The masks are available to every person with an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level through through local social service agencies and organizations. Only adult-sized masks are available at this time.

To access the free masks, call 2-1-1 between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week for direction to one of over 70 distribution locations across the county.
