Safety tips for visiting county parks
Kitsap County Parks will re-open vehicle access areas at all county parks on Tuesday, May 5. This is in response to Gov. Jay Inslee’s recent modification to the "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order, which loosened limitations on public park use and recreational activities.
Visitors are advised to plan ahead as playgrounds, dog parks, sports courts, shelters, water fountains and public restrooms will remain closed. Sani-cans may be available at some sites. It is strongly recommended that visits be limited to two hours or less and scheduled at non-peak hours of the day. Park goers should be prepared to leave “no trace” by packing trash and pet waste out.
People enjoying any one of the county's 73 parks are asked to continue following safe social distancing guidelines and protocol to promote safe and respectful use of the parks. Keep six feet between you and anyone who doesn't live with you. Bring gloves and face masks to maintain safety. Leave at least one parking space between vehicles and boat trailers and only launch one boat at a time.
Recent recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control advise that precautions be taken to protect pets from possible coronavirus infection, including not letting pets interact with non-household members or animals. Dogs should be leashed and maintain at least six feet of distance from other people and animals and avoid dog parks or other public places where large numbers of people and dogs gather.
