The Big County Fair : Celebrating over 60 years of rides, ribbons and rodeo Aug. 21-25

In less than a week, the Kitsap County Fair & Stampede kicks off at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds, celebrating “The Big County Fair: Over 60 years of rides, ribbons and rodeos” from Aug. 21 to 25.

The event welcomes over 70,000 people to the fairgrounds annually and that number is expected to spike this year as County Commissioners approved free admission for the public in celebration of 60 years at the fairgrounds, located off NW Fairgrounds Road in Bremerton.

“We are very excited to offer free admission to this event for residents and visitors,” said Commissioner Ed Wolfe, chair of the Board of County Commissioners. “The fair is an annual tradition that brings together all ages and this year, we want to make sure everyone can attend and help us mark this special occasion.”

Free admission applies to entry onto the fairgrounds and all concerts. This year’s musical line-up includes headliner Craig Morgan on Saturday night, Aug. 24, and rising Nashville talents John Wesley-Satterfield, Lewis Brice, Steve Moncie, and Pryor Baird performing Wednesday through Friday. Aug. 21-23. Carnival rides, Xtreme Bulls, the ProRodeo Stampede and Destruction Derby still require paid admission. Discount tickets are available at all Kitsap Bank locations and online through Aug. 20 at http://www.thebigcountyfair.com/ .

Improvements to Stampede schedule this year better accommodate the ProRodeo cowboys who have to choose between competing events across the country. All rodeo events take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday with the Extreme Bulls at a new, earlier time of 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

A few notable changes to the fair include an improved layout to reduce pedestrian congestion and bottlenecks. The children’s carnival rides will move to the parking lot south of the Pavilion. There will be a new Kids Zone where children can become a ‘farmer for a day’ near the concert park. Kitsap County also contracted an independent carnival ride inspector who will conduct secondary inspections prior to the fair and remain onsite throughout the week to continuously inspect carnival rides to insure their safety.

Complete Kitsap County Fair & Stampede daily schedules and entertainment information are available at the new app, "Kitsap Fair,” which can be downloaded at Apple, Android and Google Play app stores.
