Bring Your Own Bag! Reusable Bag Giveaways

Using reusable bags while you're shopping is an easy way to reduce waste and help the environment. Kitsap County Solid Waste wants to help you make the switch to reusable bags, so we are handing out reusable and washable shopping bags at public events across the county.  One per visitor, as supplies last.

Get a bag at one of these locations:

Visit a Kitsap Regional Library Location during their open hours to ask for a reusable bag. The library can also send bags through their Home Delivery Service. 

Givens Community and Senior Center in Port Orchard and North Kitsap Senior Citizens Center in Poulsbo are distributing bags to visitors during their open hours. 

Kitsap County Solid Waste is also handing out bags at one-day "pop up" events throughout the county.

Reusable Bag Ordinances

One goal of reusable bag ordinances (plastic bag bans) is to help people switch from single-use plastic and paper bags to reusable bags. Both Kitsap County and City of Port Orchard are considering a reusable bag ordinance.

The City of Bremerton recently became the 29th city in Washington to ban plastic bags. The ordinance will go into effect on January 1, 2020.

Bainbridge Island passed an ordinance in 2012 and neighboring Gig Harbor’s bag ordinance started June 18, 2019.
