Givens Community Center tentatively scheduled to reopen Monday, Aug. 7

 

(Port Orchard) – The Givens Community Center, closed this week due to a significant electrical failure, is tentatively scheduled to reopen the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 7. The closure of the building, located at 1026 Sidney Road in Port Orchard, includes Discovery Montessori School, Holly Ridge Center and Connection Credit Union.

 

Kitsap County is coordinating with Puget Sound Energy to restore power to the building. The public is encouraged to call the county departments, services and businesses located in Givens rather than visiting them in person until the building is fully operational. Contact information is below. Kitsap County regrets the impact to the public and tenants of the building, and thanks them for their patience.

 

The following services located in Givens Community Center are among those impacted:

 

Givens Senior Center

• Closed until power is restored.
• Senior Luncheon scheduled for Monday, Aug. 7 will be canceled if there is no power.
• Contact Gloria Hough at 360-895-4220 for questions related to Senior Center activities.

Kitsap County Aging and Long-Term Care Division

• Staff will be available at the front window to answer questions.
• Case management staff will be working at alternative locations.
• Senior Information and Assistance can still be reached at (360) 337-5700 or (800) 562-6418.
• The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is still operational and may be reached at (360) 337-5714.
• Any other Aging and Long-Term Care questions may be directed to (360) 337-5700.

Kitsap Recovery Center Outpatient Services

• Kitsap Recovery Center Outpatient Services will remain open for group and individual counseling through Wednesday, Aug.
• Urine analysis collection will continue through Wednesday, Aug. 2. As of Aug. 3, Urine analysis collection was temporarily moved until the building reopens to the Kitsap Recovery Center, 661 Taylor Street, Port Orchard. For questions and more information, call (360) 337-4625.
