SRJO and Seattle Shakespeare Company team up to present the "Such Sweet Thunder Suite," Duke Ellington’s milestone, twelve-part tribute to William Shakespeare. Each movement—including "Lady Mac," "Sonnet for Sister Kate," and "The Star-Crossed Lovers"—evokes favorite Shakespearean characters, and even the Bard himself! Guest thespians present selections from the plays and sonnets that inspired Ellington to create the musical work. Come see the serene new paintings in a show called Reflections, by Kent Lovelace. Lovelace, who was familiar with copper plates from his many years as a printmaker, now uses them as “canvases” for his oil paintings. Painting on metal with oil glazes is a technique dating from the 15th century Renaissance in Europe, but is uncommon in contemporary painting.
