Lunar New Year is a celebration of Asian cultures to honor the arrival of spring. The City of Kirkland is looking for volunteers to help at this year's Lunar New Year event. The event takes place on Saturday, January 28, from 2-4pm at the Peter Kirk Community Center, located at 352 Kirkland Ave, Kirkland WA 98033.
Volunteers are needed to help on one or both shifts between the hours of 12pm and 5:30pm. The first shift is 12pm-4pm and involves set up and staffing the event. The second shift is 1:30pm-5:30pm and also involves staffing the event and clean up.
Some of the specialized tasks needed are:
- Ability to translate English to Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Laotian, or other Asian languages
- Willing to share how you or your family celebrate Lunar New Year
- Reading books to groups of kids
- Help in the kitchen
- Welcoming people to the event
- Helping with the craft area
