Summer Hot Tip!

The summer months are officially upon us, and with summer comes longer days and more sunshine! While it is fun being out in the sun, it is important to be prepared for the activities that you do outside. When it is hot outside, wear light clothing, drink lots of water, and seek shade and shelter. Know signs of heat-related illness.

Emergency Management Updates

The Office of Emergency Management facilitated the City’s involvement in Cascadia Rising ’22 Kirkland Cares disaster exercise in June, and it went GREAT! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us practice the City’s emergency plans.

City Updates

We need your voice! The City of Kirkland biennial Community Survey is active now. This information will help the City gauge community attitudes about the quality of life in Kirkland, and satisfaction with City government services, and help shape priorities for the future. The survey is open until July 20^th until noon. Take the survey here.

CERT Corner

CERT Alert! We are very excited to announce there are more CERT events coming up in the next few months.

The first is the Kirkland CERT Rodeo! If you have previously taken a CERT class, join the annual CERT Rodeo to practice your skills.

We are hosting a Fall CERT class! If you haven’t been trained yet, here is your chance.  Sign up here.

The 2022 Northwest Citizen Corps Expo will be held September 17-18 at Yakima Valley College. There will be workshops, skills refreshers, training, and more! Click this link to learn more and to register for the event.

KECT Broadcast

KECT has been busy supporting exercises and testing capability in Kirkland! Thanks to all the participants. If you are interested in learning more about ham radio, the Kirkland Emergency Communications Team (KECT) meets monthly and hosts weekly nets. Learn more here.
