A Message from OEM

As many of us start to plan for fall and winter holiday celebrations, it's important to consider how COVID-19 may impact our social gatherings. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers lots of considerations to help you safely plan for seasonal festivities while helping reduce the spread of COVID-19. You can see their recommendations and holiday-specific ideas on the CDC website. There are protective actions you can take to stay safe and healthy, including wearing a face covering, getting a seasonal flu shot, and social distancing.

We're in the midst of some lovely Fall weather right now, but we all know that the weather could soon turn frightful. Now is the time to make a plan for hazardous winter weather conditions. Make sure your emergency supplies are stocked up in case of an extended power outage, prep your home for winter weather, and make sure your vehicles are ready to travel in snowy, icy, or rainy conditions with extra supplies on board. You can learn more about severe weather preparedness on the Kirkland website.

While COVID-19 has brought many uncertainties and challenges this year, it is still important to remember that an earthquake could happen at any time. Many of us have spent quite a bit more time at home than usual, and ShakeOut is a good reminder to do a home hazard hunt for earthquake safety and to host an earthquake drill for your household! Visit our website to learn more about earthquake preparedness.

Quote of the Quarter

“Resilience is accepting your new reality, even if it's less good than the one you had before. You can fight it, you can do nothing but scream about what you've lost, or you can accept that and try to put together something that's good." - Elizabeth Edwards
