Wine Walk

All You Need is Love Wine Walk

The All You Need is Love Wine Walk is brought to you by the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce, the Kirkland Downtown Association and Seattle Uncorked, in partnership with the Heathman Hotel! Early bird admission begins at 5 p.m.! Start at the Heathman Hotel and embark on a wine-sipping adventure through Kirkland’s charming downtown core exploring places like Parklane Gallery, the Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery, Lake Street Diamond, LizzyKate, Bella Sirena Salon, Crush Footwear and many others! Elevate your Valentine’s Day with your own hand-lettered love cards, all while savoring seasonal eats. Each ticket includes bites and drinks from Hearth, paper materials, pens, ink and a Brush Lettering 101 booklet. You can take all supplies home with you, along with your handcrafted Valentine’s Day-themed creations! Tickets are $85 and can be purchased through Eventbrite.

Waterway Cruises Valentine’s Dinner Cruise

The Valentine’s Dinner Cruise by Waterway Cruises offers a four-course seated gourmet dinner, a toast with champagne or sparkling cider, breathtaking views and live music, all while exploring our gorgeous region aboard a luxurious Waterways yacht. This two-and-a-half-hour cruise showcases both Lake Union and Lake Washington and includes a Captain’s narration of interesting sights. Couples are seated at their own private dining tables and treated to live musical entertainment. Dinner cruise menu highlights include lobster bisque, strawberry arugula salad, and your choice of filet mignon, sockeye salmon or hand-made gnocchi. Herding Cats is known for fun, high-energy performances featuring hits by Santana, the Police, the Beatles, John Cougar Mellencamp, the Who and many others. The band earned the esteemed position of Best Band in 425 Magazine’s Best of 2018 collection of local greats.

Parklane Gallery presents Forrest Goldade and Larey and Phyllis McDaniel

Parklane Gallery invites you enjoy the work of husband and wife photographers Larey and Phyllis McDaniel, who are presenting their exhibit, “What’s Black and White and Red All Over?” This collection includes monochrome and color photographs printed on paper, canvas, aluminum and metallic paper fused to acrylic. Larey and Phyllis live in Kirkland and are professional musicians! Larey is a member of the Seattle Symphony, playing clarinet and bass clarinet.

Artist Forrest Goldade presents “Natural Impressions,” a series that highlights the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Both of these exhibits are displayed from February 4 through March 1, with an artist reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 14. Parklane Gallery is located at 130 Park Lane in the heart of downtown Kirkland.

Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery presents “Urban Dialogue” by Dimitriy Gritsenko

Stop by and visit renowned gallery owner Gunnar Nordstrom at his new Kirkland location, where he has successfully transformed the space at 92 Kirkland Avenue into a cozy, artistic mecca with a warm, welcoming vibe! The month of February brings “Urban Dialogue” by Dimitriy Gritsenko, a Seattle-born artist who specializes in oil painting on canvas and linen. Saturday, February 8, is the opening reception and artist meet and greet, which you won’t want to miss! Dimitriy is inspired by cityscapes, which are prevalent in “Urban Dialogue!” You are invited to come and enjoy Dimitriy’s gloriously gritty scenes that capture the life and movement of the city.

Jazz Decree Trio offers straight-ahead jazz at Stage 7 Pianos

Stage 7 Pianos presents Steve Tanimoto, and Chris and Jyl Leininger for maximum Gershwin and mini cupcakes! Steve Tanimoto on piano delivers exciting, fluid playing that is reminiscent of Bill Evans. Chris Leininger’s bass and guitar work reflect a musical/intellectual approach to choosing chords that support the brilliant songs of writers such as George Gershwin and Cole Porter. Along with Jyl Leininger’s true and heartfelt vocals, the trio takes audiences to places that are beautiful, captivating and decidedly fun. Admission is offered for a suggested donation of $10 - $20 at the door.

Kirkland Arts Center presents “Home Reimagined”

The Kirkland Arts Center is happy to present KAC teaching artist Maja Sereda’s drawings of the natural world at the Kirkland Public Library. Maja Sereda renders detailed mixed media drawings on paper. Her fascination with details germinated in childhood and continues to this day. Sereda’s current body of work reflects her personal relationship with nature, her creative process and her philosophy. The drawings are “collectives” of eyes, plants, animals, bugs and more, living individually as well as together, creating a tightly knit fabric of our environment. Home Reimagined looks closely at Pacific Northwest birds and their homes, and how humans are making an impact on that delicate structure.

Kirkland Arts Center presents “Threshold”

February 1 through February 15 | Various Times | Kirkland Arts Center | 620 Market Street

The artworks chosen for Threshold were not only a response to the concept of a threshold – a marked point of passing between spaces or states of being – but the works chosen also speak to pressing issues we face as a society at this moment in time. The present is itself a threshold between past and future, the only moment in which we can act. At this point in time, it seems like much is at stake and much action is needed. This exhibit features the art of Lalitha Bandaru, Steve Jensen, Jim Phalen, Dina Barzel, Jacqueline Calladine, Chris Fitzgerald and many others.

Studio East presents: You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown

February 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 | Various Times | Studio East

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is based on the comic strip “Peanuts,” by famed creator Charles Schulz. Experience a day in the life of iconic Charlie Brown, his faithful sidekick Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang as they experience life’s ups and down together. The opening night gala for Cast B is Saturday, February 1, (Cast A’s gala was January 31) so don’t miss out on your chance to celebrate this fun production with its passionate and talented performers! You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is presented by Tere and Daniel Kaulfus, directed and choreographed by V.J. Orduña and musically directed by John Lehrack.

Eastside Community Musical: Mamma Mia!

February 7, 8, 14, 15 and 16 | Various Times | Kirkland Performance Center

Studio East and Kirkland Performance Center are joining forces to present Catherine Johnson’s classic Mamma Mia!. Mamma Mia! is a jukebox musical written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, based on the songs of ABBA composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, former members of the band. The storyline follows Sophie, who is ready to get married to her fiancé Sky, except for one thing – she has never met her father and wants him present for the big day. She invites three men whose names she discovers in her mother’s diary and believes to be candidates, but when they all arrive, Sophie’s mother Donna becomes distressed. As Sophie, Sky, Donna, her friends, and the three potential fathers prepare for the big day, emotions run high and surprises abound. Mamma Mia! is directed by Lani Brockman, musically directed by David Duvall and choreographed by Karen Omahen.

StoryBook Theater presents… Little Red

February 8, 9, 22 and 23 | Various Times | Kirkland Performance Center

What makes a friend? Can Little Red make friends with a starving wolf and an overexcited hunter? And will they want to make friends with her? Granny teaches this needy and very hungry trio to look beyond their immediate needs and discover how to make a friend – and best yet, how to keep one. Adaptation by Lani Brockman with music and lyrics by Susan Bardsley. The February 9 performance at 3:30 p.m. is sensory-friendly. All February 22 shows are ASL interpreted. StoryBook Theater introduces young audiences to the magic of live theater with 55-minute original musicals written specifically for children ages three to 10.

Imagination Theater is back! Mystery, drama and laughter abound in America’s leading radio drama series regularly featuring private detective Harry Nile and tales of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Recorded live at KPC, America’s leading radio drama series is heard from coast to coast on more than 50 radio stations in North America, including KIXI in Seattle.

Beatles versus Stones – A Musical Showdown

The British Invasion brought us the two most popular rock groups of all time, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, as well as the liveliest debate in rock history – which band is the greatest? These two legendary bands will engage in an on-stage, mash-up duel featuring internationally renowned tribute bands, Abbey Road and Satisfaction – The International Rolling Stones Show.

Jazz Unlimited presents the Marina Albero Trio at Stage 7 Pianos

Sensational Barcelona born, Seattle-based pianist Marina Albero brings her musical talents to Stage 7 Pianos. A master of the piano, psalterium (a Mediterranean hammered dulcimer), vibraphone and composition, Marina Albero is a working musician, leading the Marina Albero Project. Admission is $20 at the door. Refreshments are available for an extra charge.

Studio East presents: The Tempest

Prospero, the Duke of Milan, usurped of his position and power by his brother, is banished along with his young daughter Miranda, to a magical island full of mysterious creatures. For 12 years, Prospero waits and hones his magical skills, until a sail appears on the horizon, with a ship carrying his past enemies. Creating a magical storm, he wrecks the vessel and washes those that have wronged him – and some who have saved him – upon the shore. When they wake, they find themselves lost on a fantastical island where nothing is as it seems. In this production of The Tempest the worlds of Shakespeare’s play and fantasy roleplaying collide, with Prospero at the center as our Game Master. Does absolute power rest in his hands, or is fate determined by the roll of the dice? This show is recommended for kids age nine and up.

Energy of Shirazi LLC presents… Siamak Shirazi and Babak Amini

February 29 | 7:30 p.m. | Kirkland Performance Center

BaSiaNova is a musical collaboration between Babak Amini and Siamak Shirazi that started in winter of 2017. Their unique perspectives about music and life is expressed in their upcoming album, coming out this fall, and their live performances. They are combining more than 30 years of Babak’s experience as an award-winning performer, composer, arranger and producer, with Siamak’s experience as a wellness guru and a vocalist. Their sound represents a fusion between jazz, flamenco, and contemporary Persian music and creates a rare, avant-garde style of live performance.

Juanita Bay Park Interpretive Tours

February 2 and February 18 | Times Vary | Juanita Bay Park | Eastside Audubon Society

The Eastside Park Rangers, in affiliation with the Eastside Audubon Society, offer interpretive tours at Juanita Bay Park. Every season gives nature lovers a chance to spot something new and wonderful. Sunday, February 2, is the Juanita Bay Wildlife Tour, which begins at 1 p.m. and takes about one hour. Tuesday, February 18, is the Juanita Bay Park Bird Walk, which begins at 9 a.m. and welcomes adults and teens! Bring binoculars and meet in the parking lot.

Contra Dancing every second Saturday at the Juanita Community Club

Nonprofit Folk Horizons offers a partner-style contra dance every second Saturday at the Juanita Community Club! Contra dance is a type of folk dance made up of long lines of couples, with mixed origins rooted in the 17th and 18th century. Beginner contra dance instruction starts at 7:30 p.m. with the dance starting at 8. Folk Horizons is an educational nonprofit organization that strives to engage local communities and to promote traditional folk performing art programs.

 Alexander’s Hope Valentine’s Day Dash

February 15 | 9 a.m. with registration starting at 7 a.m. | Heritage Park | 111 Waverly Way | Alexander's Hope Valentine's Day Dash

This is the first ever Valentine’s Day Dash 5K run/walk organized by Alexander’s Hope, a Kirkland-based nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of organ donation and its incredible impact on the lives it saves. Alexander’s Hope was founded by the Chaffey family in honor of Alexander Chaffey, whose life was saved by a heart transplant. The nonprofit was also created to help catch undiagnosed heart conditions in young, seemingly healthy individuals. Event organizers plan to make this an annual event. This scenic 5K course travels along Kirkland’s sparkling waterfront! Furry four-legged friends are welcome at this event, which offers a participant shirt and finisher’s medal.
