October | Reception October 10 from 5 to 10 p.m. | 11905 124th Ave NE |
Gianna DiBartolomeo's work combines the vivid carefree colors found in everyday Miami life with labor-intensive repetitive processes. Her subject matter captures the grit and glamour of life: the places it takes us, the bumps in the road and the discoveries along the way. Her work is how she better understands and relates to the world around her. She doesn’t cover her canvases with paint; instead, thousands of glittering sequins crowd up against the frame. Her series of sequined works is aptly titled “All that Glitters.” Her art refutes pessimism and banality, drawing on the simple pleasure of visual enjoyment, childhood creativity and play with materials.
