National Night Out

National Night Out Against Crime Neighborhood Block Party

August 6 | 6 to 8 p.m. | Kirkland Justice Center | National Night Out  

Hosted by the Kirkland Police Department, the National Night Out (NNO) 2019 neighborhood block party takes place 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, at the Kirkland Justice Center. NNO is free to attend, and includes a delicious barbecue dinner, activities for kids, police and fire vehicle displays, touch-a-truck, tours of the Kirkland Justice Center and much more! Meet your Kirkland police officers and firefighters, City leadership and Police Chief Cherie Harris.

1000 Lights Water Lantern Festival

The 1000 Lights Water Lantern Festival is the perfect setting for friends and family to come together and enjoy the beauty of thousands of twinkling lanterns lighting up the night and the water. This festival is about producing lasting memories and times for families, friends and communities to connect. The 1000 Lights Water Lantern Festival includes food trucks, live entertainment and a magical array of sparkling lights, so bring you favorite lounge chair or blanket and head to Juanita Beach Park.

Kirkland Waterfront Car Show

August 11 | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Downtown Kirkland | Kirkland Waterfront Car Show

Join the fun at the annual Kirkland Waterfront Car Show, one of the largest car show events on the eastside. This event showcases hundreds of gorgeous cars, all on display throughout Marina Park and downtown Kirkland. There will be entertainment and family-friendly activities all day. This event is free. Presented by the Kirkland Downtown Association.

Summer Sundays – Shop, Stroll & Dine on Park Lane

June 2 – September 22 | 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. | Park Lane in Downtown Kirkland | Summer Sundays

Visit downtown Kirkland’s picturesque Park Lane throughout the summer months and take advantage of Summer Sundays, a pedestrian-oriented series meant to inspire community members and guests to shop, stroll and dine on a car-free Park Lane! The transformation of Park Lane into a pedestrian-only plaza began Sunday, June 2 and runs through Sunday, September 22. Enjoy sidewalk shopping, dining al fresco, and community entertainment!

Carillon Point Movie Night

Carillon Point Outdoor Movie Nights

August 3 & 17 | 6 to 11 p.m. | Carillon Point Plaza | Carillon Point Outdoor Movie Nights

Carillon Point continues its summer outdoor movie night series, with “The Incredibles 2” on Saturday, August 3, and “SOLO – A Star Wars Story” on Saturday, August 17. Movies will begin at dusk; the plaza will be open one hour prior for seating. Recommended $5 donation to Hopelink. Popcorn, beverages, and candy will be available for purchase – cash only.

Les Misérables

August 2, 3 & 4 | Kirkland Performance Center | Adults $20, Senior and Youth $16

Studio East’s 22nd annual teen summer musical presents “Les Misérables.” This epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, petty thief Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes an honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father – violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently pursues him.

Khaaleh Sooskeh

A tribute to the legendary Bijan Mofid, Khaale Sooskeh, directed by Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam and starring Boshra Dastournezhad, with Nargess Jajarmi, Shayan Khoshmagham, and Nasim Gorgani, is a free adaptation of Bijan Mofid’s musical drama masterpiece Shahr-e Ghesseh. In this production, Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam takes a humorous and playful approach to storytelling and brings to life a modern rendition of a beloved classic.

Kirkland Performance Center: Northwest Royal Natural Bodybuilding Championships

August 24 | 10 a.m. & 4 p.m. | Kirkland Performance Center

The NW Royal Natural Bodybuilding Championships are a fun, family-friendly event for all ages. Competitors showcase their hard work to achieve their best physique for the categories they’re competing in. Categories include Bodybuilding, Figure, Fit Body, Physique, and Bikini. We welcome everyone; friends, family and neighbors! Please come out to cheer on and encourage our competitors, who have worked very hard to step out on that stage.

The morning show is prejudging, where competitors perform all mandatory poses for each class and are judged accordingly. The evening show is where competitors perform their routines to the music of their choice, the judging results are revealed, and they receive their trophies and awards.

42nd Annual Kirkland Summer Concert Series

Thursday Evening Concerts | July 11 – August 22 | 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Marina Park

The Children’s Concerts series on Tuesday mornings is one of the only child-themed outdoor concert series in the area. On Thursday evenings, watch the sun set over Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains while enjoying a picnic in the park complemented by toe-tapping music at the Evening Concerts. Suggested $2 donation.

Downtown Kirkland ArtStop

Discover a vibrant art experience with the Kirkland ArtStop! Stroll through the Kirkland Wednesday Market to explore featured artists as well as participating merchants in downtown Kirkland. Live art, music and more. Free. Presented by the Kirkland Downtown Association.

Friday Night Family Fun Night

Join us for Friday Night Family Fun Night at the Peter Kirk Pool! Enjoy pool games, arts and crafts and music during a themed public swim. Regular pool admission fees and rules apply. Space is limited to the first 270 people. The theme on August 9 is “Fiesta at the Pool.”

Second Saturday Contra Dance

A community dance held every second Saturday at the Juanita Community Club Hall, at 13027 100th Ave. in Kirkland. Fun evening of contra dances (social dance originally from New England) including a few circle and square dances. Live traditional folk music and dance caller. Walk-through provided for every dance. Attending with a partner is not necessary. Beginner instruction at 7:30 p.m.; dance at 8 p.m. Free ice cream provided during the break!

Husky Cruises by the Woodmark Hotel

Husky Game Day Boat Cruises are back! Grab your fan gear, your fellow football fans, and tailgate with us Seattle style! This summer at Lee Johnson Field Kirkland Parks will host Sprinkler Park Thursdays. A variety of sprinklers, suitable for all ages, will be set up for everyone to enjoy and cool off from the summer heat! All ages welcome! Children 10 and under must be supervised by an adult. Please note: Temperatures must be above 70 degrees for Sprinkler Park to be open. Please call our inclement weather hotline at 425-587-3335 for program information.

Park to Park Open Water Swim

August 25 | 7:30 a.m. | Swim ends at O.O. Denny Park | Park to Park Open Water Swim

Join the 12th anniversary of this event! The park to park swim is a fun, noncompetitive 1.3-mile swim across Lake Washington from Matthews Beach in Seattle to O.O. Denny Park in Kirkland. Proceeds from the swim benefit the Emergency Patient Assistance Fund at Seattle Children’s Hospital. See the park to park swim website for more information.

Juanita Bay Park Interpretive Tours

The Eastside Park Rangers in affiliation with the Eastside Audubon Society offer interpretive tours at Juanita Bay Park. Every season gives nature lovers a chance to spot something new and wonderful. Sunday, August 4 is the Juanita Bay Wildlife Tour, which begins at 1 p.m. and takes about one hour. Tuesday, August 20 is the Juanita Bay Park Bird Walk, which begins at 8 a.m. and welcomes adults and teens! Bring binoculars and meet in the parking lot.

Junior Softball World Series

Junior Softball World Series

July 28 – August 3 | Everest Park | Junior Softball World Series

Held annually in Kirkland—teams from around the world will compete in the weeklong Junior League Softball World Series Championship. Opening Day begins Sunday, July 28. Championship playoffs will be held Saturday, August 3, broadcast by ESPN. The Junior Softball World Series is free for spectators.
