Easter Egg Hung

Kirkland Kiwanis 45th Annual Easter Egg Hunt

April 21| 1:00 p.m. | Peter Kirk Park

Ready..Set..Go! Almost 500 pounds of eggs will be scattered around Peter Kirk Park by Kirkland Kiwanis Club members and volunteers from the Life Community Church of Kirkland. Different areas of the park are designated for specific age groups.

Capability is a meditation on gun culture and gun violence in the United States. Artists from the local and national community reflect on the multifaceted ways in which guns have woven themselves into our cultural identity. Capability uses compassion and empathy to dissect the historical and contemporary contexts that address the questions: How did we get here? How do we move forward?

Peter and the Starcatcher

When starcatcher-in-training Molly meets an orphan boy longing for a home, they embark on the adventure of a lifetime to protect a precious cargo. In this Tony Award-winning, magical and hilarious play with music, actors play more than 100 unforgettable characters. Peter and the Starcatcher uses ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination to finally reveal the origins of Peter Pan, Wendy, the Lost Boys, their piratical nemesis, Captain Hook—and a far-off place known as Neverland.

Hot Club of San Francisco

April 5 | 8 p.m. | Kirkland Performance Center

Imagine yourself in the idyllic French countryside in the 1930s. Sometime before dark, a Gypsy caravan sets up camp in a field outside of town, luring the locals out for an evening’s fun. The wanderers travel with a film projector, pointing it at the side of a barn. As the images flicker to life beneath the stars, Gypsy musicians play their guitars and fiddles, matching every movement on the screen with characteristic virtuosity, passion and humor. Reviving this lost entertainment, The Hot Club of San Francisco presents Cinema Vivant, an evening of vintage silent films accompanied by live Gypsy swing.

We Will Rock You

April 6 | 8 p.m. | Kirkland Performance Center

The Kirkland Performance Center All Star House Band will perform the great anthems of rock in a benefit concert to support Kirkland Performance Center. “Don’t Stop Believing,” you can climb the “Stairway to Heaven,” yell “Freebird” and shout “More Cowbell,” experiencing the epic and iconic standouts of rock. Proceeds from the night benefit KPC’s 2018–19 presented season and educational programming.

Rumba Kings

The Rumba Kings will premier their new show at the Kirkland Performance Center! The band will be performing new songs from their forthcoming album, as well as the ones you already know and love if you’ve seen the group live. 

What Are the Odds? An Evening with Dori Monson

What are the odds that an aimless kid from old-school Ballard would grow up to become Seattle’s most fiery and most listened-to radio talk show host? Find out when you reserve a seat as KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson introduces you to the remarkable people who helped shape his improbable career.

Double Trouble

April 13 | 8 p.m. | Kirkland Performance Center

A Nigerian scammer promises Im Hussein and Abou Hussein $1.5 million, with strings attached. The two fall for the swindle and deplete their savings account to comply. Confusion reigns when an African man arrives with a shocking claim. Then the authorities come to investigate.  And yet another African shows up, adding to the carnival of chaos, laced generously with Im Hussein’s signature comedic input.

Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra: Cubana Be Cubana Bop with Special Guest Ignacio

April 14 | 2 p.m. | Kirkland Performance Center

Ignacio Berroa, world-renowned Latin percussionist, joins SRJO to lead the band in a concert of the music of Cuba along with standards of the New York big band world. A super star of the drums, Berroa came to the United States from Cuba as a youth in the 1980s, and played in all the New York bands that were hungry for Latin grooves to mix with their jazz sounds. This concert continues SRJO’s “World View of Jazz” series.

La Dentro Da Mata: A Kids’ Play Full of Adventure

April 20 | 2 p.m. | All seats $15 | Kirkland Performance Center

Lá dentro da Mata is a play spoken mainly in in Brazilian Portuguese. It’s full of music and adventure that shows the beauty and the magic of the animals, plants and creatures of the Brazilian Amazon forest. This is a beautiful story about friendship, cooperation and caring!

SFWA Reading series April event

The Pacific Northwest is home to a Tardis-Full of Science Fiction and Fantasy writers, a fact celebrated every quarter with the Pacific Northwest Reading Series. These free quarterly events provide the Northwest Science Fiction and Fantasy community a chance to gather, network and enjoy readings from local and visiting authors in Portland and Seattle. April 23 featured writers are: Rebecca Roanhorse, Kari Maarten and Sam J. Miller.

PNW Truthteller Tour

Jim French’s Imagination Theater

Mystery, drama and laughter abound in America’s leading radio drama series regularly featuring Private Detective Harry Nile and tales of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Recorded live at KPC, America’s leading radio drama series is heard from coast to coast on more than 50 radio stations in North America, including KIXI in Seattle.
