Celebrate Kirkland—4th of July Parade, Picnic and Fireworks

Join in the fun at Kirkland’s annual Fourth of July celebration featuring a “decorate to celebrate” event for kids at Marina Park Pavilion, followed by a parade, live music and a picnic. The evening finishes with a fantastic fireworks display over Marina Park with viewing from most waterfront areas.

Kirkland Uncorked is Washington’s largest summer wine festival, located on the picturesque shores of Lake Washington at Marina Park. Carillon Point Outdoor Movie Nights

On July 7 see “Despicable Me 3” and on July 21 “The Wedding Singer.” Movies will begin at dusk; the plaza will be open one hour prior for seating. Recommended $5 donation to Hopelink. Popcorn, beverages, and candy will be available for purchase—cash only.

The Children’s Concerts series on Tuesday mornings is one of the only child-themed outdoor concert series in the area. On Thursday evenings, watch the sun set over Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains while enjoying a picnic in the park complemented by toe-tapping music at the Evening Concerts. Park Lane Sculpture Project Exhibit Opening of Pareidolia People by Artist Ed McCarthy

In coordination with the City of Kirkland and the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission, King County Engineering for Kids, the Kirkland Arts Center presents a community exhibit that features a collection of six, colorful outdoor works by Ed McCarthy displayed along the Park Lane Avenue to enhance the cultural vibrancy of Kirkland. The sculpture project explores cityscapes and the individual. Ed McCarthy has a background in architecture and engineering and incorporates both architectural and structural form into his sculptures. He gives new meaning to the term “industrial art” by creating steel objects reminiscent of machinery or manufacturing tools through abstract and geometric shapes he calls “Pareidolia People.” The colorful and playful steel objects will be on display on Park Lane in Kirkland, Washington for over a year, from July 13, 2018 through July 15, 2019. Studio East is excited to bring the hit musical “Footloose” to the stage this summer as its annual teen musical! Based on the 1984 film, this musical follows an eccentric teenager as he moves to a small middle-American town where dance is forbidden. He rallies a gang of friends to help him defy the town and create a true rock’n’roll prom.

Sprinkler Park

This summer at Lee Johnson Field, Kirkland Parks will host Sprinkler Park Thursdays. A variety of sprinklers, suitable for all ages, will be set up for everyone to enjoy and cool off from the summer heat! All ages welcome! Children 10 and under must be supervised by an adult. Please note: Temperatures must be above 70 degrees for Sprinkler Park to be open. Please call our inclement weather hotline at 425-587-3335 for program information.

Junior Softball World Series

Held annually in Kirkland—teams from around the world will compete this summer in the weeklong Junior League Softball World Series Championship. Opening Day begins Sunday, July 29. Championship playoffs will be held Saturday, August 4, broadcast by ESPN.
