Ready… Set… Go! Almost 500 pounds of eggs will be scattered around Peter Kirk Park by Kirkland Kiwanis Club members and volunteers from the Life Community Church of Kirkland. Different areas of the park are designated for specific age groups.

Topophilia: A Sense of Place, A Sense of Feeling explores the significance of place, and is based on the central concept that an individual’s personal perspective of a place shapes their artistic interpretation and expression. The 16 artists in this exhibition use their experiences, memories and imaginations to create places both real and surreal, familiar and fantastic, and to express their feelings about the world around them.

Hailed by Rolling Stone as “a genre unto herself,” composer and guitarist Kaki King is a true iconoclast. During the past 13 years the Brooklyn-based artist has released eight extraordinarily diverse and distinctive albums, performed with such icons as Foo Fighters, Timbaland and The Mountain Goats, contributed to a variety of film and TV soundtracks including Golden Globe-nominated work on Sean Penn’s Into The Wild, and played to an increasingly fervent following of music lovers on innumerable world tours.

Noah has been peddling sincerity and introspection in musical form for almost a decade; songs that give listeners a taste of the emotional nectar in the pit of another human’s gut. A lover of Shakespeare, Duke Ellington composed the “Such Sweet Thunder Suite” as his tribute to the Bard. SRJO teams up with local thespians to present this special suite of works. Each movement—including “Lady Mac,” “Sonnet for Sister Kate,” and “The Star-Crossed Lovers”—evokes favorite Shakespearean characters or quotes. Guest thespians present selections from the plays and sonnets that inspired Ellington to create the musical work. Part of the “Seattle Celebrates Shakespeare Festival” throughout March and April, 2018.

Hari Kondabolu is a Brooklyn-based comic who the New York Times has called “one of the most exciting political comics in stand-up today.” He has performed on Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, CONAN, John Oliver’s New York Standup Show, and has his own Comedy Central Presents special. A regular on the NPR circuit, he has appeared on Fresh Air with Terry Gross, All Things Considered, Studio 360, Morning Edition, The Moth… among many other programs. He is best known for his comedy on subjects such as race, identity and inequity.
