Higher Education
Did you know that there are college courses available to you at a discounted rate?! King County employees are provided discounts at Seattle College, City University (CityU), and UW Tacoma! You can find all King County employee discounts here: Available discounts - King County, Washington and will find the links below in the Higher Education dropdown menu.
CityU offers a 15% tuition discount on all offerings. They have created a dedicated page for County employees where you can learn more about courses and enrollment here: King County Employees – CityU Landing Pages.
The University of Washington Tacoma campus has provided a 10% discount on select offerings. They have also created a customized page for King County employees that provides information on available courses and what’s coming up. You can browse around their site here: For King County Employees courses - UW Tacoma Professional Development Center and enroll with a discount code. You can obtain the discount code by emailing us at kctraining@kingcounty.gov.
Seattle College offers a 10% discount to King County employees on all Continuing Education courses. You can review courses on their individual campus websites North, South, and Central. They haven't yet established direct links for enrollment (Coming soon!) In the meantime, you can view current courses available and enroll through our King County Eventbrite site HERE.
We also receive a discount with The Time Professionals! Learn to manage your time and planning based on how your brain works! You can learn more about these classes by visiting the King County employee dedicated site here: King County - The Time Professionals.

Building Gender Inclusive Spaces
In this three-hour workshop, participants will learn about the long history of gender diverse peoples across the globe, foundational knowledge of gender and sexuality, and best practices to support a gender diverse workforce.
Participants will have the opportunity to move through real-life scenarios, apply their understanding of pronoun use, and develop strategies to advance gender equity at King County.

Join us in this engaging workshop where we will explore the complex nature of socialization and its impact on our views, beliefs, and behaviors and gain deep understanding of how systemic biases are embedded in our society. We will explore strategies for building inclusive communities where all individuals, regardless of their background, can thrive. Together, we aim to empower participants to take meaningful actions that drive social change and promote justice in their own spheres of influence.

Leader Learning Labs have different topics each workshop and next class is Tuesday, April 30, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. (tomorrow!) Next on the schedule is Tuesday, June 25, from 1:00 to 2:30pm. The April workshop is “From Challenges to Opportunities – We Solve Problems & We Are One Team” and June’s is “Deep Listening for Better Relationships." NOTE! Equity and Leadership is a prerequisite to all Leader Learning Labs.

Creating Effective Application Materials (eLearning)
This self-paced eLearning will provide tips and strategies on how to make application materials stand out. Learn the purpose of the job application, resume, cover letter and supplemental questions, and how to make each of them more effective. We’ll go over what to include in your resume and the best format to showcase your qualifications, how to write a tailored cover letter, and how to showcase your accomplishments and transferable skills. This self-paced eLearning will provide you with strategies and tips to help you do your best during the interview. You will learn how to prepare for a virtual or in-person interview, the interview structure and types of questions you will be asked. King County Mentoring Program
Would you like to have a mentor, someone who can help you grow professionally? Do you want to strengthen your coaching skills? As a Mentee, you will have a trusted advisor who can help you navigate complex situations, and as a Mentor, you can uncover new or forgotten skills and build influence.
