Value, Appreciate, and Respect All
Did you know that employees recall instances of disrespect more easily than respectful events? Everyone has a role in showing others they are valued. Read about it in Berkeley’s Greater Good Magazine article Four ways to help your coworkers feel respected. Much like trust, it takes intention to earn and show respect.
Watch the short video interview Civility and Respect in the Workplace with Dr. Ray Crawford, U.S. Department of Education Chief Executive for Strategic Planning. He says that civility is more than politeness. It is how we interact in a positive way, through behaviors and in thoughtful communication. And because respect looks different for everyone, he uses the Platinum Rule by treating others as they wish to be treated.
Respect at Work: Platinum Rule is a six minute eLearning in NEOGOV with simple examples covering active listening, behaving ethically, valuing diversity and inclusion, constructive disagreement, and strengthening relationship. This looks great on your KC Training Transcript.
