Department of Adult & Juvenile Detention protective measures reduce Omicron outbreak and ensure safety
In response to recent COVID-19 impacts stemming from the Omicron surge, the Department of Adult & Juvenile Detention has prioritized key actions related to the health and safety of employees and people in custody by continuing to maintain modified visitation polices, booking restrictions, and PPE requirements that have been in place since early in the pandemic.

Anti-Racist White Action Group 2022 Book Club
All county employees are invited to join an exploration of the profound and timely message Heather McGhee skillfully delivers in The Sum of Us. In her book, McGhee identifies the cost of racism to everyone and how we can prosper together.

Retirement class: Medicare 101
Check out the following class to help you prepare for retirement.
Medicare 101 - If you are reaching Medicare age and want to learn about your options as a King County employee, then come hear.guest speaker Jean Cormier discuss Medicare basics. In addition, Jenny Stark from Regence BlueShield and Hannah Bachelder from Kaiser Permanente will discuss their Medicare Advantage plan options. The next session is Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Register here.

Facilitating Effective Meetings – Online – A common challenge faced by individuals in business is how to lead and facilitate meetings that are interesting and solicit active engagement. This two-day training covers the skills used by a facilitator to design and run an effective meeting. How to be a better participant is also discussed. Topics include specific facilitation skills, group decision making skills, and how to deal with disruptive behaviors. In this class you will learn how to navigate difficult behaviors and keep meetings on track. This class takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 8 and 9 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Fee is $65. Equity and Leadership – Online – Created in partnership with the Office of Equity and Social Justice, the Equity and Leadership training is designed to support participants’ ability to recognize the role that race and racism have on disparities in our workforce and to understand the responsibility for people leaders to create racially equitable work environments for their teams. Sessions are free and are offered monthly. The next session will be Thursday, Feb. 10 from noon to 4 p.m. Register here.

Staying Steady – Online – As leaders we are often balancing multiple priorities and demands. This year has been especially difficult in finding ways to stay steady ourselves and ensure the wellbeing of our teams, especially as we continue with Future of Work planning, re-entry anxiety at home/work, and racism as a public health crisis. Join us for an interactive session that focuses on prioritizing your wellbeing as a leader and supporting your team with strategies to build a sense of stability and resiliency, to work more effectively. Sessions are free and are offered monthly. The next session will be Tuesday, Feb. 15 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Register here for this date or choose another date that best fits your schedule.
