State mask guidance in effect in King County

Public Health – Seattle & King County is announcing the end of the current King County Mask Directive that has been in place since May 20, 2021.

Now that the local directive has ended, the Washington state mask guidance is in effect in King County. Unvaccinated people will need to continue wearing masks in indoor public spaces and crowded outdoor spaces.

We want to hear your story! Why did you choose to get vaccinated against COVID-19? Maybe you have an elder parent or a young child at home. It could be you know someone who had COVID-19 and you feel it's your civic duty to help protect our community. Or maybe it's just want to get back to the things you love doing.

Community Corrections Division recognizes Sabrina Gorman for her many years of service

Sabrina Gorman started her career with King County 25 years ago as a Corrections Officer in Seattle back in 1996.

What Sabrina likes best about her current position at the Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention is the variety of work duties, which makes each day different. She also appreciates the connections with people.

A Conversation on Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, and Resiliency

Join Balanced You for an interactive training and conversation. During this training, employees will learn to identify burnout and compassion fatigue in their own lives and learn strategies to build resiliency to help carry through the ongoing pandemic and recovery. Objectives include:

• Understand the current landscape impacting emotional well-being
• Describe how burnout and compassion fatigue are showing up for you
• Develop a plan for increasing your resiliency

Check out the educational opportunities below to help you learn about—and prepare for—retirement. These online classes will be held on Zoom and are provided by your King County Retirement Team.

• Road to Retirement — This 90-minute class is designed for employees who are planning to retire from King County in the next six months. It covers procedures, forms, medical coverage options, and pension plans—so you’ll be on a smooth road toward a happy retirement.
• Tuesdays, July 20 and July 27 at 1 p.m.

• Introduction to Social Security — Join this 90-minute class if you are interested in learning more about Social Security. Guest speaker Kirk Larson from the Social Security Administration will discuss your options as a King County employee and answer your questions.
