Wednesday, April 21, is Administrative Professionals Recognition Day, an opportunity to say “thank you” to the Administrative Professionals that keep our teams, divisions, and departments running smoothly.
While we have had to cancel this year’s annual Administrative Professionals Recognition Day Celebration Event in line with our ongoing efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, we can still use this opportunity to express our gratitude to our Administrative Professionals.
This extraordinary group of people is greatly appreciated by all employees across King County, and we thank them for their professionalism, expertise, and service.

How to navigate King County eLearning
King County has launched a new platform to power King County eLearning, our online learning system, called NEOGOV Learn.
King County eLearning offers thousands of courses and with NEOGOV Learn now powering it, you will be better able to customize and track your learning, access courses that have been assigned to you, and get credit for your attendance at classes and webinars.

April has three paydays!
Almost all King County employees get paid on a biweekly basis, every-other-Thursday, resulting in 26 pay periods per year. You usually receive two paychecks per month, but April 29 will be your third payday of the month.
The net dollar amount of these “third” paychecks may be larger because not all deductions are taken out. For example, Deferred Compensation, supplemental insurance premiums, Benefit Access Fees, and Employee Giving donations are not deducted from these checks.
Please note, this will be the case in September 2021 as well. For more information about your paycheck, go to Payroll or speak with your department Payroll representative or timekeeper.

“Why should I trust the vaccine? What’s the difference between the vaccines?” There are many common questions and concerns surrounding the vaccine. For many in the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities, there are additional hesitancies around the vaccine due to medical trauma, language and access barriers, or historical racism in the healthcare system.

April is National Records and Information Management Month
As King County employees, we have the responsibility of managing our records all year long. So what makes April so special?
“Records Management Month is the time we set aside to celebrate and recognize the important and valuable work that we all do as records managers.” County Records Analyst Lisa Mankin said. “Whether you’re a department director, an administrative specialist, or an inspector in the field, we are all records managers.”

Notice of King County Personnel Board Candidate Filing & Election
King County Elections will hold a candidate filing period for the elected member position on the King County Personnel Board. The candidate filing period will begin on Monday, May 3 at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7.
The Personnel Board conducts hearings on appeals of certain personnel actions as provided for in Section 540 of the King County Charter. Read more about the filing and election here.
