Halloween season is upon us, but participating in your local government shouldn’t give you a fright. The King County Council is currently taking up King County’s second supplemental budget, which makes adjustments and alterations to the existing two-year budget that was adopted late last year. This is the Council’s opportunity to review the $756 million budget that the King County Executive transmitted.
Public input is vital to this process and there are a variety of ways you can provide your feedback. You can review the budget proposal and briefing materials to see what we are considering. You can contact your King County Councilmember directly to share your ideas and priorities—if you don’t know who your councilmember is, you can find out here.
The Budget and Fiscal Management Committee will be meeting on Wednesday, October 28 at 9:00 AM to discuss the budget and you can attend either in person at the King County Courthouse (516 Third Ave, 10th Floor, Seattle) or virtually by Zoom or phone to provide public comment.

This week, I was proud to partner with King County Executive Zahilay to present our annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month proclamation. People with disabilities have the right to hold a job that they have the skills to do with the supports and accommodations they need to thrive, contributing their talents to our economy and gaining self-sufficiency and independence.
King County’s Supported Employment Program matches qualified candidates with developmental disabilities to workforce needs within King County with the goals of supporting our employees in reaching their full potential and providing King County residents with excellent service. Our colleagues in the Supported Employment Program are essential to King County’s operations and I want to thank everyone from the program who joined us for this joyful presentation!
