-
Soil and groundwater monitoring: Crews will collect soil samples and install equipment to monitor groundwater in the project area.
The information gathered during this work will help guide the design of the South Interceptor Rehabilitation Project. When the work is complete, crews will restore the areas where they worked. See the map below for worksite.
- Work hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Nighttime work near Southwest Grady Way, 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Thursday, October 22.
- Sidewalks will remain open.
- Lights will be used for the nighttime work on Southwest Grady Way.
- Temporary lane closures during work hours on Southwest 16th Street, Southwest Grady Way and Oakesdale Avenue Southwest. At least one lane will always be open for vehicles.

King County is repairing about one-third of a mile of sewer pipes and seven sewer maintenance holes in Renton. These pipes are part of our South Interceptor sewer line. These pipes are old, and repairing them will help keep your sewer service reliable for decades to come.
The pipe runs deep underground beneath Southwest Grady Way and Interstate 405. Right now, the project is in the early design stage. We expect to complete design in early 2028, with construction starting shortly after.
We will keep community members informed of project progress and be available to answer questions and address concerns throughout construction. Contact us at 206-263-2340 or email Southinterceptor@kingcounty.gov
We will provide additional translations or an interpreter at no cost.
