King County Solid Waste Division announces 2027 rates

Beginning January 1, 2027, King County's Solid Waste Division will enact the following rate adjustments, approved by the King County Council on Sept. 8. Revenue from waste fees allows the Solid Waste Division to continue providing essential services while supporting recycling and waste reduction efforts throughout the county.

New minimum fees for self-haul customers will change to $43.50 for standard vehicles (sedans or two-door hatchbacks) and a weighted rate of $264.01 per ton for all other vehicles. Contract haulers will pay $207.03 in addition to their fixed annual charge.

Yard and wood waste fees will increase to a minimum of $22.50 for standard vehicles and a weighted rate of $140.50 per ton.

Discounts for qualifying low-income customers will increase to $22.00.
