Your Weekly Update on What's Happening at the King County Council

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Tomorrow is the big day! Fairwood is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and we’ll be there all day, starting with a 5K community fun run/walk. Donations will benefit the Kentridge Cross Country Team.

And you can still sign up! Register at this link: https://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/meet/277067/register. We’ll see you at the starting line!

Then, make sure to join us at 12:00 p.m. for the opening ceremony and the beginning of live music.

Finally, don't forget to come watch a movie under the stars at 8:30 p.m. This year, the Big Backyard Movie is Zootopia 2!

Parking will be available at nearby Ridgewood Elementary School (18030 162nd Pl SE, Renton) and Northwood Middle School (17007 SE 184th St, Renton), with a shuttle traveling from Northwood Middle School to the event.

Town Hall in Maple Valley

A few days ago I was thrilled to be joined by my fellow local officials at the 29th Maple Valley Town Hall!

It was an honor to speak at the town hall along with Maple Valley Mayor Sean Kelly, all the members of the Maple Valley City Council, King County Executive Girmay Zahilay, State Representatives Zach Hall and Lisa Callan, and other local officials.

I appreciated being able to hear from so many in our community about the needs and issues facing Maple Valley and Southeast King County. I’m always inspired by the level of care our neighbors have for our community, and it motivates me to continue fighting for you with everything I have.

Plus, I want to make sure to thank the incredible team of staffers, police officers, firefighters, vendors, and others who made this event possible.

I love our region, and attending town halls like this one reminds me just how special our community is.

Ravensdale Movie Night

Residents watch Pixar's 'Hpppers' under the stars in Ravensdale.

The showing of Pixar’s Hoppers in Ravensdale was a success! The staff who ran this event did a great job, and I want to thank them sincerely for taking the time to come out to rural King County and put on this event for us.

And as far as I could tell, quite a few puppies (and not just beavers) were thrilled with the movie as well!
