July is Disability PRIDE month. King County employees and community members gathered to recognize the contributions residents and employees with disabilities make every day.
CM Lewis joined Council Chair Sarah Perry (D3), CM Steffanie Fain (D5), and Executive Zahilay to raise the Disability PRIDE flag to commemorate our friends, colleagues, and neighbors with disabilities who make our world a better place.
The proclamation also reaffirmed King County’s commitment “to the principles of justice, equity, and “Nothing About Us Without Us.”
Wednesday, July 8: D2 Constituent & Issue Meetings
CM Lewis met with representatives from Cedar Grove Compost regarding sorting technology. Cedar Grove is the local company that turns much of King County’s yard waste into usable compost for gardening and landscaping.

CM Rhonda Lewis, D2 staff joined Elder Dawn Mason for her annual Fish Fry in District 2. Friends and neighbors from throughout District 2 gathered and some wore western wear!
King County Executive Zahilay joins host Elder Dawn Mason on the back deck to speak to fish fry attendees.
Attendees listen to local leadership including Mayor Wilson and AG Nick Brown as well as musical performances while enjoying fish, greens, beans and macaroni salad.
Seattle Education Director Dwayne Chappelle joins Seattle City Council President Joy Hollingsworth to speak to attendees enjoying fish.

July is Disability PRIDE month – King County recognizes Disability PRIDE to affirm its commitment to the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which was created to reduce barriers to people with disabilities.

District 2 - a great place to live, lead and make history! Together!
District 2 (D2) is comprised of 273,758 constituents living in Skyway, Rainier Beach, Columbia City, Rainier Valley, Central District, Capitol Hill, Montlake, Eastlake, U-District and Ravenna. It is a beautiful district full of talent and diverse heritages and families. 22% of the D2 population is foreign-born, 28% multi-lingual and 52% rent their homes. Forty-one of Seattle Public Schools’ 109 schools are in District 2.
