Starting on Monday, July 13, Public Health will send automated emails to notify site contacts if an inspection will be delayed instead of calling site contacts. These emails will be delivered between 8:00am and 8:30am each business day.
We are making this change because Public Health has been experiencing a higher volume of inspection requests than we are able to accommodate with current staffing levels.
Now, when a plumbing or gas inspection is not able to be performed on the date requested, that inspection request will be prioritized for the next business day, and the status of the inspection request will show as “Waitlist” in your Public Health Permit Center account. This status will typically be updated by 6:00am the day of the inspection request.
On the inspection request form, there is now a required field for a site contact email address (see the below picture).

This email address is where the automated email will be sent on the morning of the requested inspection if we cannot accommodate the inspection request that day.
The automated email will also include:
-
Information about who to contact if there is an emergency inspection request.
-
How to request an after-hours or weekend inspection.
-
How to change the site contact information if a delayed inspection results in a different site contact needing to be listed on the inspection request form.
Thank you for your patience as we make this transition. This change in notification method will help free up Public Health resources to focus on our core customer service objectives, namely inspections and plan reviews.
