Executive Zahilay Statement on KCRHA's Corrective Action Plan
Background
Today, Executive Girmay Zahilay released the following statement after King County and the City of Seattle sent a letter to the King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) responding to their Corrective Action Plan, which was submitted on May 22.
Statement
“Our assessment of KCRHA’s plan found inadequate corrective steps and a lack of clear timelines and deliverables for how the agency will strengthen its financial controls and reporting systems. Protecting taxpayer dollars and maintaining stable services for people experiencing homelessness are my top priorities, and it's clear that the agency needs to take more action to stabilize and course correct in the short term.
“To support KCRHA and hold them accountable to making these changes, King County and the City of Seattle will embed an independent financial analyst in the agency starting this month. This analyst will provide more transparency into financial practices, improve payment processes, and ensure corrective actions are being implemented with urgency.
“We will maintain strong collaboration with the Mayor’s Office and KCRHA leadership in the coming months to ensure that these corrective actions are quickly implemented.”
