Crews are continuing restoration work at the North Mercer Pump Station site. This includes upgrading the pump station, testing the new systems, and restoring the work area.
This week, crews are focusing on restoration outside the pump station building. They are preparing the site, bringing in construction equipment, installing drainage, removing temporary structures, and installing a fence. This phase of work is expected to take about two weeks to complete.
During this work, Southeast 22nd Street will remain open to two-way traffic. There may be occasional delays as equipment equipment enters and leaves the site. Please drive slowly and follow all directions from crews.
Plans for final restoration:
After this phase is complete, crews will remove equipment and materials no longer needed. They will then restore all disturbed areas based on permit conditions agreed upon with the City of Mercer Island. Planting at the North Mercer Pump Station is planned to occur in the fall. We will provide an update with more information when demobilization and planting are scheduled.
