Walk around the plant with our Education Team to learn about how South Plant treats wastewater
Ah summer, the birds are chirping and flowers are in bloom. And nothing says summertime quite like the fragrant aromas of a wastewater treatment plant, right? Okay, maybe not, but South Plant has more to offer than meets the nose.
If you’ve ever wondered where water goes after you flush the toilet or turn off the tap, our seasonal tours are the perfect chance to find out! We have two tours coming up this year and we would love for you to join us to learn all about South Plant and the work we do.
What to expect on the tour:
- These will be walking tours, expect about a half-mile of walking and some stairs.
- Families are welcome but all participants need to be ages 9 and up.
-
The tour can be made wheelchair accessible upon request.
The WTD Education Team, who hosts these tours each year, will guide you through South Plant and share how we protect public health and the environment. More information about their events and the programming they host can be found on their website.
For this tour, we will meet in the administration classroom for a short intro, then don safety gear and walk around the treatment facility. The tour is intended for a general audience, please contact the organizer directly for technical tours.
Meet the Community Services Team
New this year, the Community Services Team will be partnering with the Education Team to host a resource table in the administration building before each tour. Stop by to:
- Learn about South Plant's work in the community
- Explore current and upcoming projects
- Ask questions about services and partnerships
- Pick up some WTD swag
Upcoming tours are scheduled for:
One of our staff, tabling at a local event, if you see us, stop by and say hello!
