 April 17 2026
Thank you for meeting with the Murray Force Main Rehabilitation Project outreach staff at Lowman Beach Park and sharing your thoughts in the past two weeks. About 163 people stopped by during the three drop-in sessions to learn about the project. So far, 52 people have completed the Community Survey. A total of 137 people signed up for our project email update.
We received valuable feedback, questions, and concerns about the upcoming construction. We will continue to provide project updates by email and make connections with local communities.
Take our Community Survey for Construction
We are still listening—please share the survey with your neighbors who may be interested in this project. We understand construction can be disruptive, and we want to be a good neighbor.
We invite you to take our Community Survey through April 24, 2026. It will help us understand how to best support you during construction. Please note that:
- All questions are optional.
- No personal identifying information needed.
- If you prefer to fill out a printed copy or provide your responses by phone, please contact our project team by calling 206-263-9237 or emailing mkuo@kingcounty.gov.
The outreach staff hosted three drop‑in sessions at Lowman Beach Park in April. Community members who were interested stopped by to talk with staff and learn more about the project.
Frequently asked questions about what to expect during construction:
Can people access their homes and driveways on Beach Drive SW?
Yes, crews will keep one lane open on Beach Drive SW. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic. There may be short delays, but residents will still be able to access their homes. If construction temporarily blocks a driveway, we will send notices to the residents by mail and flyer ahead of time. Our crew will work with residents on parking and access plans when needed.
Is the park open during construction?
Yes, Lowman Beach Park is open during our work. Although the work will take place at the lawn near the street, people can still access and enjoy the beach and playground. For your safety, please use alternate routes around the fenced off work area.
What will the noise be like?
There will be typical construction noise during the pipe rehabilitation work. We will continue to share more details about the work, location, and estimated timeline by email updates.
What about street parking?
Street parking in front of the park on the west side of Beach Drive SW will be reserved for construction use during the posted hours. Please follow the parking sign instructions.
What’s the timeline for construction?
Construction in the park will take place as early as May 1, 2026. Work in the street will begin as early as June 1. Road and park restoration will occur in fall/winter 2026, once the pipe work is complete.
Can I flush my toilet and do laundry during this time?
Yes, we do not anticipate any sewer service interruptions. We work during the dry season when the flow is lower. We will redirect the flow to another pipe to maintain sewer service.
Can King County install a portable restroom at Lowman Beach Park with this project?
The City of Seattle owns, operates, and maintains the park. Any requests should be directed to Seattle Parks and Recreation. The King County contractor will set up a portable restroom for temporary use by its crews during construction and will remove it after construction is completed.
About the Project
Phase 2 of King County’s Murray Force Main Rehabilitation project starts as early as this May. The project ensures reliable wastewater service for West Seattle residents. Crews will line a section of a pressurized sewer pipe called a “force main.” We will also replace the valves at Murray Pump Station. This work must take place during the dry season to avoid service disruptions. Road and park restoration will occur in fall 2026 after work is complete.
Thank you for your patience while we work on this project.
Note: Construction area shown on the map is approximate. The project work zone begins from Lowman Beach Park on the southbound side of Beach Drive SW. It extends about 0.2 miles north from the park.
