 I-90 crossing work on SE 35th St and 96th Ave SE and final paving on 97th Ave SE

as early as April 20

Expect single lane alternating traffic and driveway impacts during work

Work and impacts on SE 35th St and 96th Ave SE Work will begin as early as April 20 with excavation to prepare for pipe relining. After excavation, crews will install the pipe casing. During this work, the intersection of SE 35th St and 96th Ave SE will operate with single lane alternating traffic directed by flaggers around. Crews will cover the trench with metal plates and restore two-way traffic outside of work hours. This work is expected to take approximately three months to complete.   Drivers may experience short delays when driving through the intersection. Driveway access for near neighbors will be maintained at all times. Please travel slowly through the area and follow all posted signs and crew directions.

Grinding the roadway on 97th Avenue Southeast  As early as April 20, crews will sawcut and grind the roadway to create a flat surface for paving. Sawcutting and grinding is expected to be completed in two days. During this work, residents may hear increased noise and experience vibrations, and the roadway will be rough and unfinished until paving is complete.     Single lane alternating traffic will be in place along 97th Ave SE, and access for residents and vehicles will be maintained. Please travel slowly through the area and follow all posted signs and crew directions.

Paving the roadway on 97th Avenue Southeast 

Paving will begin as early as April 22, a day after grinding is complete. Paving is expected to take one day, followed by a few hours of curing time. During this work, residents can expect single lane traffic. Once crews begin paving, they cannot stop or allow cars to drive on the newly paved roadway. 

Sawcutting and paving are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled.

What to expect:

• Approved work hours are 7 am to 7 pm Monday to Saturday.
• All work will be performed in the public right-of-way.
• Noise, dust, and vibrations typical of an active construction project.
  • Increase in noise and vibrations during grinding.
• Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
• Garbage, recycling, composting, and mail service will be maintained.
