This week is Transit Appreciation Week, an opportunity for us to thank all the transit workers that keep our region moving. I was proud to cosponsor our annual King County Council proclamation recognizing all the amazing employees that build and operate our regional transit system.
It was especially exciting because we are only days away from opening the Crosslake Connection, finally bringing light rail across the I-90 bridge to create a truly connected regional transit system. Everyone is invited to join us for the opening celebrations next Saturday, March 28 at 9:00 AM at Sam Smith Park (1400 Martin Luther King Jr Way S, Seattle). The events will continue along the 2 Line all day—I hope I’ll see you there!
This week, the King County Council proclaimed March as Women’s History Month. This was the first time we had the honor of doing so with a Council that is majority women.
Next Tuesday, March 24 at 11:00 AM, everyone is welcome to join us for our Annual Women’s History Month Panel: Trailblazers of Our Time – Women Who Are First! Panelists include Councilmembers Rhonda Lewis and Steffanie Fain, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project’s Executive Director Malou Chávez, and LGBTQIA activist Marsha Botzer.
Watch live at 11:30 AM on http://kingcounty.gov/KCTV, or join us in person 11:00 AM–1:00 PM at the Chinook Building (401 5th Ave, Seattle). Contact KCCESJ@kingcounty.gov for accessibility needs.

On Saturday, March 28, at 9:00 AM at Together Center (16305 NE 87th St Suite 110, Redmond), NAMI Eastside will host their annual youth mental health conference. Join them for a day dedicated to empowerment, connection, and resilience. Together, we can be a community where young people can rise above stigma, access support, and feel seen and heard.
