Beginning as early as Thursday, March 19, crews will begin work to demolish the existing curb and ramps to install new American Disability Act (ADA)’s compliant ramps and sidewalks at the intersection of 2nd Street Northeast and N Street Northeast. This work could take approximately two weeks to complete. Please note that this work schedule is dependent on the weather and is subject to change.
As part of the restoration work for the M Street Trunk Rehabilitation project, King County is installing new ADA ramps, sidewalks and curbs to improve safety and accessibility.
We have created an interactive construction map, which you can find active construction site by visiting: kingcounty.gov/MStreetTrunkRehab.
- Work hours are generally weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on most streets and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on M Street between 3rd Street Southeast and 2nd Street Northeast. We will notify you when weekend or night work is scheduled.
- Construction vehicles and materials may be staged nearby.
- Flaggers will direct vehicles and pedestrians around the work zone.
- Street parking will be restricted in posted areas.
Please watch for equipment and signs in the area, travel slowly, and follow directions from flaggers in the work zone.
The King County Wastewater Treatment Division is repairing approximately 2.6 miles of old concrete sewer pipe, ranging in size from 18 to 36 inches wide, in Auburn. We will also fix 45 maintenance holes and over 100 side sewer connections to homes and businesses. Rehabilitating the M Street Trunk will help preserve aging infrastructure and ensure the reliability of our regional wastewater system.
Construction is disruptive. King County’s goal is to complete construction efficiently to minimize disruptions to the community.
We are committed to keeping you informed throughout this project. We will provide advance notice of construction activities through mail, email, text messages, web bulletins, and project flyers. If you are hosting a community event, we can set up a table, provide materials, and answer questions. Please contact the project team if you are interested in having us attend!
