As soon as Tuesday, February 17, crews will repair the M Street Trunk sewer pipe and maintenance holes on M Street Northeast from the 2nd Street Northeast intersection to just south of East Main Street. The crew will also work on M Street Southeast near 3rd Street Southeast. This work is expected to finish on the night of Friday, February 20.
Work will occur at night, between 8 pm and 5 am, to reduce traffic impacts during the day on M Street.
See the map below for more details. We have also created an interactive construction map, which you can find by visiting: kingcounty.gov/MStreetTrunkRehab.
- Night work will occur within permitted hours between 8 pm and 5 am.
- Expect noise from trucks, generators, and other construction equipment. Noise from the CIPP relining trucks and generator will not be louder than a lawnmower.
- Lights will be used to safely illuminate the work area. Lights will be directed to the work area to minimize light pollution.
- Construction vehicles and materials may be staged nearby.
- Flaggers will direct vehicles and pedestrians around the work zone.
- Street parking will be restricted in posted areas.
Please watch for equipment and signs in the area, travel slowly, and follow directions from flaggers in the work zone.
The King County Wastewater Treatment Division is repairing approximately 2.6 miles of old concrete sewer pipe, ranging in size from 18 to 36 inches wide, in Auburn. We will also fix 45 maintenance holes and over 100 side sewer connections to homes and businesses. Rehabilitating the M Street Trunk will help preserve aging infrastructure and ensure the reliability of our regional wastewater system.
Construction is disruptive. King County’s goal is to complete construction efficiently to minimize disruptions to the community.
