Crews have been conducting ongoing testing of the newly installed pump system at Lift Station 11 in Fruitland Landing, following our last update. With testing now complete, crews can move forward with restoring the area. Restoration work on 97th Avenue Southeast is expected to begin as early as January 14.
Bypass pipe removal
Starting January 14, crews will deactivate, flush, and remove the temporary bypass piping and access ramps along driveways on the north end of 97th Ave SE. This work is expected to take one day to complete. Residents may experience brief delays of up to 10 minutes when accessing their driveways during removal.
Backfill and temporary paving
After crews remove the access ramps and temporary bypass piping, they will backfill the intersection of 97th Ave SE and Southeast 34th Street as early as January 15. This work is expected to take one day to complete.
|
|
Once backfilling is complete, crews will begin temporary paving of the intersection. Paving is expected to take up to two days. If you plan to leave your home during permitted work hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) on January 15 and 16, please plan to park on neighboring streets outside of the work area. Paving work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions are not suitable.

Crews will remove the bypass pipe and access ramps along 97th Ave SE. Then, they will backfill and pave the intersection at 97th Ave SE and SE 34th St. During work hours, flaggers will direct single lane traffic around the site.
|
During work hours on January 14 through January 16, there will be alternating single lane traffic directed by flaggers around the work area on 97th Ave SE. Drivers may experience short delays of a few minutes. Driveway access will be maintained at all times, and the intersection will reopen to two-way traffic outside of work hours.
Please travel slowly through the area and follow all posted signs and crew directions.
Remaining restoration activities
After backfilling and temporary paving of the intersection, crews will continue restoration efforts at Fruitland Landing. The park is anticipated to be reopened to the public after restoration is complete.
Final paving is weather dependent and will be scheduled at a later date during the next permitted paving window, which begins in mid-March. We will provide an update with more information on final paving and other remaining restoration when the work is scheduled.
