Get Hands-on with Volunteer Opportunities

King County DNRP has many opportunities to get involved in your community through volunteering. Find volunteer opportunities such as planting trees, reporting noxious weeds, teaching how to repair things, counting salmon, measuring water quality at lakes and more. Get involved!

King County Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) offers paid teen and college internships and spring career events. Learn more about these career opportunities.

King County Parks offers paid summer teen internships through their Youth Conservation Corps. Sign-up for notifications when the application opens and get more information!

Learn About the Environment and Take Action!

Join us in learning about the environment we live in through workshops and programs appropriate for all ages. Plan trips to treatment plants and landfills, find lesson plans and materials for schools and find opportunities to take action.

Get funding through DNRP grants

Apply for funds to help our communities - reduce water pollution, improve parks, conserve land, prevent waste, reduce flood risk and improve health. Check out DNRP grants!

Take a tour of a Water Treatment Plant

Tour a WTD treatment plant and learn what you can do to protect our water. Must be at least 9 years old. Sign up now!

Visit City Soil Farm

WTD has a farm! City Soil is a teaching farm located in Renton that provides education programs about water use and turning wastewater into valuable resources. The farm also helps feed local community members at the White Center Food Bank! Come learn and volunteer at the farm.

Become a Green School

The Green Schools Program involves K-12 students and staff in education and action for sustainability. Student teams, schools, and districts receive hands-on help, tools, and recognition in becoming a Green School. Public and private K - 12 schools and school districts in King County, outside the City of Seattle, are eligible to participate.
