Single lane closure underway on 81st Avenue Southeast for potholing work

Expect noise, vibrations, and alternating traffic during work hours

King County's contractor is potholing the roadway on 81st Avenue Southeast to investigate the pipe and determine whether repair work is required. Residents may notice construction noise and vibrations during work hours. Potholing is expected to take about one week to complete. This schedule is weather-dependent and may take longer.

Traffic impacts: During work hours, flaggers will direct alternating single lane traffic on 81st Ave SE. After permitted work hours, the road will reopen to two-way traffic. Local access for Mercer Isle Condo residents will be maintained at all times. Please follow directions from flaggers, traffic control, and signage while traveling through this work area.   We understand that lane closures can be inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience as crews work to complete construction safely. Plans for repair work:

Findings from this potholing work will determine whether pipe repair is needed. A notice with more details will be sent out, and the project website will be updated once pipe repair work has been scheduled.

What to expect:

• Approved work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
• All work will be performed in the right-of-way.
• Flaggers will direct single lane alternating traffic during approved work hours.
  • Two-way traffic will be restored after approved work hours.
• Noise, dust, and vibrations typical of an active construction project. 
  • Expect intermittent loud noise during potholing.
• Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
• Garbage, recycling, composting, and mail service will be maintained.
